Did you know that problems can occur in hot weather (above 25°C)? As a professional flooring applicator, it is important to become aware of the potential problems that can arise, and more importantly how you can fix them!
Here are some of the most common issues that you may start to see and how you can fix them.
- Viscosity of coating decreasing as temperature increases can result in:
- Percolation or draining of coating into tongue and groove is increased and this may contribute more to edge bonding.
- Solvents ‘flash off’ quicker resulting in:
- Patchy gloss
- Loss of ‘wet edge’ and consequent roller edge or stop / start marks, especially with satin finishes.
- Curing reaction is faster with effects on the extreme of:
- Decreased flow, creating roller or brush marks
- Gelation in application buckets, especially with 2 packs
- Gloss variations
- Orange peel
- Film surface skins and results in bubbling
