Why Use Water Based Floor Coatings

Jun 15, 2023 | News

Water Based floor coatings are one of the most popular finishes for a reason. While appearing milky in the can, when applied to a timber floor a water-based finish obtains a clear, smooth finish. Resisting yellowing and drying quickly, Polycure’s AQUAPRO Water Based Coatings are easy to apply, odour free and low VOC’s (volatile organic compounds).

AQUAPRO Water Based polyurethanes contain less harmful products and are therefore better for the environment and the health of you, your family, and the applicator. As the finish is applied the water evaporates and forms a polyurethane film. Once the film hardens the finish is waterproof.

AQUAPRO Water Based products:

  • Are low odour
  • Low VOC (Volatile Organic Compounds)
  • Easy to maintain
  • Maintain the natural colour of the timber (dries clear and stays clear)
  • Are available in gloss, semi-gloss, satin and matt finishes
  • Highly durable
  • Excellent abrasion & chemical resistance
  • Have good scratch resistance
  • Hard wearing protection
  • Up to three coats can be applied in a day – Refer to TDS
  • Flooring can be used 24 hours after the final coat is applied
  • Water wash up

Water Based floor coatings have evolved over the past few decades. Increasing demand for safer, ecofriendly yet efficient and durable coatings has meant water-based sealers and finishes are gaining popularity over traditional timber floor coatings.
